About ComplyQS
ComplyQS is an AI-compliance workspace for RICS-regulated surveying firms, operated by VAR Projects Ltd. What it does, the principles it's built on, and what it deliberately is not.
What ComplyQS is
ComplyQS is a compliance workspace for RICS-regulated surveying firms, built around one specific document: the RICS professional standard Responsible use of artificial intelligence in surveying practice, effective 9 March 2026. Firms use it to log their AI tools, record materiality decisions per instruction, notify clients, and keep the registers, reviews and audit trail the standard expects — in one place instead of a folder of spreadsheets.
Who operates it
ComplyQS is operated by VAR Projects Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, built from inside the quantity surveying world rather than from a generic compliance-software play. The product exists because the standard turned responsible AI use into a records problem — and record-keeping is exactly the kind of work software should absorb so surveyors don't have to.
The principle it's built on
One design decision runs through everything: the software never makes the compliance call. ComplyQS offers soft, rule-based guidance, and then records the decision a named professional makes — the two are stored separately, and a suggestion can never overwrite a human judgement. We think that separation is what makes the records defensible, and frankly, what makes the product honest. For the same reason, ComplyQS never asserts what any AI vendor does with data as fact — tool notes say “verify current terms”, because terms change.
What it is not
ComplyQS is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a product of RICS. It is not legal, regulatory or professional advice, and using it does not make a firm compliant — compliance is conduct, and the conduct is yours. What the product does is make your conduct visible, organised and provable. Our terms say this at greater length; the short version is that we keep the records and you keep the judgement.
The free stuff
Much of what we publish is free regardless of whether you ever open an account: plain-English articles on the standard, screenshot-led product guides, downloadable templates for the registers, letters and policy, a glossary, and a key-dates page with a quarterly review calendar. If they save a firm from a compliance scramble, they've done their job — and if you'd rather the records kept themselves, the trial is 180 days.
